Goverment Island Historic Trail Improvements
Resource began working with Stafford County in 2005 on this project. The initial survey work included wetland limits identification in support of a nationwide permit for the wetlands. Subsequent survey work has included the preparation of easement plats, subdivision plats, ALTA plats, and construction staking. The project consists of a collaborative effort between the County, Dominion, and Aquia Harbor as each group has worked diligently toward the goal of creating a public park for access to the historically significant Government Island. The site was quarried during the revolutionary era for the stone used to build both the White House and the U.S. Capitol. Survey services for the project have included close coordination with a cultural resources archeological consultant used to test and certify the artifacts found at the site.
Additional construction staking services and as-built surveys are expected to be required as the project is bid and constructed in 2009.
This project included:
- Boundary Surveying
- Topographic Surveying
- Easement Plat Preparation
- Wetland Surveys
- Subdivision Plat Preparation
